DIRECTOR OF THE LABORATORY FOR RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS OF INDUSTRIAL OCCUPATIONS OF THE FUTURE – DR HAB. INŻ. JAROSŁAW BRODNY (PH. D ENG.), PROF. OF THE SILESIAN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY

Since December 1, 1990, an employee of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice. Since November 1, 2014, an employee of the Institute of Production Engineering (currently the Department of Production Engineering) at the Faculty of Organisation and Management. In 2016-2019, an associate dean for the Organisation and Development at this faculty, in 2017-2019, the Director of the Institute of Production Engineering. After reorganisation, since October 1, 2019, the director of the Department of Production Engineering and the deputy director of the College of Studies which main task is a coordination of entire process of education conducted at the Silesian University of Technology.

He actively participates in the works related to promotion and implementation of the Industry 4.0. idea. Since 2018, he is the vice president of the Silesian Centre of Industry 4.0. Competences. It is the common initiative of the biggest in Europe Katowice Special Economic Zone and the Silesian University of Technology. He coordinated one of the Priority Research Areas of the Silesian University of Technology regarding Automation and Industry 4.0. in the contest for a Research University, which is currently the Silesian University of Technology.

His scientific interests are connected with modelling physical phenomena, flow of gases and liquids and the analysis of mechatronic systems. They also include workplace research in real conditions of complex systems, technical objects and physical phenomena. The interests are concentrated around technical and engineering sciences in the fields of mechanical and production engineering as well as in mining, energy and environmental protection. Recently, those interests are focused on issues related to Industry 4.0., Smart City, Circular Economy and Sustainable Economy, and include broadly understood digitisation of the economy and research of cyber-physical systems.

His academic achievement includes over 270 literature positions, including those in prestigious worldwide journals. The number of publication in JCR base equals 21, an Impact Factor totals 35, several dozen positions indexed in the Web of Science and Scopus bases, Hirsch Index according to the WoS base equals 9, and according to the Scopus base it equals 12. He has 17 patents and 28 patent applications. An author of 5 monographs, several chapters in monographs, an editor of monographic studies. He has many awards and distinctions for his scientific and practical achievements.  In 2008, he has been awarded the highest student distinction – a „Złota Kreda (Golden Chalk)”.

He cooperates with socio-economic environment and foreign scientific centres in Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Russia, Turkey and USA. He is a Reviewer Board Member in Energies journal (ISSN 1996-1073) of the MDPI publishing house and a reviewer of many prestigious journals included in the JCR base.
