DIRECTOR OF THE LABORATORY FOR RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS OF INDUSTRIAL PROFESSIONS IN THE PRE-INDUSTRIAL PERIOD – DR HAB. INŻ. MAŁGORZATA LABUS (PH. D ENG.), PROF. OF THE SILESIAN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY
A graduate of the Faculty of
Earth Sciences at the University of Silesia and the Faculty of Geology and
Research at the AGH University of Science and Technology. An employee of the Department of Applied Geology at the Faculty
of Mining, Safety Engineering and Industrial Automation. Since 2016, an associate
dean for extramural studies, from the 2019/20 academic year – an associate dean
for General Affairs. An author or co-author of over 90 research papers,
including 2 monographs, an co-author of 2 academic textbooks (Labus M., Labus
K. „Podstawy geologii strukturalnej i kartografii geologicznej (Basics of structural geology and geological
mapping)” and: Labus M., Krzeszowska E. „Praktyczne podstawy geologii
ogólnej i paleontologii (Practical basics
of general geology and palaeontology)”).
She has been participating in
over 20 national and foreign conferences. Her scientific interests are
focused on rock deterioration processes and geochemical processes taking place
in rock environment. As a part of the project financed by the Polish-Norwegian
Research Cooperation Programme, she has been dealing with the processes of
destruction of special cements used in oil drilling. In the past years, she has
taken up the issues of the application of thermal analysis in geological
sciences.
A co-organiser of science conferences,
including 3 „Geochemistry and Environmental Geology of Industrial Areas”
conferences. As an attendant of the Student Research Club of Geologists, she
has been organising numerous meetings, presentations and field trips, including
the “GeoFlow” National Geological Student Conference twice.
She is the director of a didactic
project as a part of the POWER European Social Fund programme –
POWR.03.01.00-IP.08-00-UMO/17, under the name: „Uniwersytet Młodego Odkrywcy na
Wydziale Górnictwa i Geologii – Kopalnia Wiedzy – Pokłady Możliwości (Young Explorer’s University at the Faculty
of Mining and Geology – Mine of Knowledge – Limitless Opportunities)”,
realised in 2018-2020.
